The Licensing Team will now start to process your application.
It is important that you visit Lichfield District Council House to provide the following hard copy evidence. If you do not have a medical certificate, you may wish to wait until you have your medical check carried out before you visit our offices with your other documentation.
If you do not provide your evidence, it will delay/invalidate your application.
Evidence of your right to work in the UK
We need to see evidence of your right to work in the UK, even if you are a UK citizen – for example your birth certificate or passport. Please bring the original hard copy evidence you told us you had as part of your application.
If you are supplying a UK birth certificate, immigration status document issued by the Home Office, birth/adoption certificate from the Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Ireland, or a certificate of registration/naturalisation as a British Citizen, we will also need to see an official document that shows your National Insurance Number.
Your UK driving licence
Please bring your current UK driving licence into the District Council, in order for us to verify the document.
Your medical certificate
If you are a new applicant or are renewing your licence and you are due a medical check, we will send you a letter/form so that you can arrange your medical check direct with CHC Medical in Hednesford. CHC will provide you with a laminated certificate, which you will then need to bring into our offices.
About the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and Update Service
If you are renewing your licence, you should already have signed up to the update service directly with the Disclosure and Barring Service. If you have not signed up to the update service you will have to submit a new Disclosure and Barring Service application via the GBG website and register. The ‘organisation pin is 153598 and the ‘secret word’ is Taxi17 (with a capital T). Find out more about how to register.
If you are a new applicant, please visit the GBG website and register. The ‘organisation pin is 153598 and the ‘secret word’ is Taxi17 (with a capital T). Find out more about how to register.
You will be asked to provide three pieces of identification to support your application, such as your passport, drivers licence and utility bill. Please arrange for this identification to be bought into the District Council in order for us to verify your application.
Fixed penalties, cautions and driving offences
If you have told us as part of your application that you have any fixed penalties, cautions and driving offences, we will contact you directly to discuss these in more detail.
Certificate of good character
If you have lived outside the UK in the past five years, for six months or more, please bring a hard copy of your certificate of good character from the relevant embassy/country.
Any questions, please email licensing
Kind regards,
The licensing team
