Post subject:  Lincoln ph firm charging £26 per mile?
A local private hire company charged six passengers £13 (and 10p!) for the half mile between the William Foster pub to the Adam and Eve pub at 1900 on Sunday 10th April. Visitors to the City told me last night. PH fares are massively higher than hackney rates now. Would have cost £5 to £6 in a Hackney. Yes, hackney fares should go up, but the head of licensing is “far to busy” to push through a tariff increase that was applied for last year. Glad to be out of it. Much more fun doing the homes under the hammer thing…

Seems to me the flagfall could be £5.00 and the Running Mile could be £2.00 and then a half mile fare would be £6.00 QED.

A friend ordered a six seater from Eagle, a village out of Lincoln at 2230 on a Saturday to Carlton boulevard in the north of the city. The journey would be 11.5 miles with passengers on board. He was quoted £62. He didn’t take the “ good looking “ private hire company up on their offer. His wife picked them up instead. People will not be taken for mugs and won’t use them. Don’t run away with the idea you can charge what you want.

It is an opinion but even if I was neutral the £10 a punter, and £6 a mile rate at that time of night isn't unique in this app world we live in.

I also suspect that the firm charged that rate because it could usually get it, even though that quote wasn't taken up. It would be a bit daft quoting high if no bugger was going to book you.

No, but it's not that unique for pubs to charge £10 for a pint of beer, but the vast majority wouldn't pay that.

And £6 a mile might not be unique, but on the other hand charge even £3 a mile and some will call you a thieving c**t and threaten you with violence :roll:
