Ok... We cannot refuse to carry an assistance/guide dog but all dogs must be secured in the car (by harness) most guide dog owners (if not all) want the dog with them in the front seat (footwell) whats the law on this? (if you clicked here expecting something else, shame on you) |

Rule 57 of the highway code states: “When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves if you stop quickly. A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars.” |

So a dog has to be restrained when travelling in a taxi, but a child under 3 years old doesn’t have to be. Highway Code rule 99. |
