Total minefield, but think red diesel can only be used in relation to agriculture, forestry, golf courses, and travelling fares and circuses :-s

As for duty on petrol, I suspect that relates to its sale rather than end use, so probably no mileage there either, if you pardon the pun

and pleasure/canal boats...

We have tractors here being used with big trailers doing 20 miles each way with loads of spuds thereby avoiding driver hours, drive AGES and O licences...and on red no doubt

Operators of petrol engined buses can claim what used to be fuel duty rebate on fuel used on registered local bus services. These days I doubt there's many petrol engined buses about, maybe a few under 16 seat minibuses. These days it's called Bus Service Operators Grant.

I don't see how anyone can claim duty back on petrol or diesel for other uses. Surely the cost of petrol/diesel is reclaimed against income/revenue anyway with VAT being reclaimed.

I think there is a form you can fill out but you have to prove that the fuel was for non road use

Even more complicated for aircraft I believe as it depends if the flight leaves the country or not
