Hi,

Bro has been caught doing 45mph in a 40mph by a manned camera has accepted the FPN of 3 points and £100 fine. It’s a stretch of road that is 50mph and then reduces to 40mph lots of people are caught there not that that’s an excuse.

How likely is he to be referred to licence committee it’s Sheffield City Council the code isn’t listed for automatic referral however there is a catch all clause at the discretion of licensing officer.

He had a CU08 offence for not in proper control of vehicle that went to court and he was given 3 points and £70 fine (history posted on here moved 2 car lengths with phone in hand not actually using phone) convicted date 20 Feb 2020 expired date is 20 Feb 23 and removal date is 20 Feb 24. When I look online at record states 0 current penalty points.

I mention this as he had to go to licence committee for above but I think that was more because he forgot up declare it and also had a similar offence in a 3 year period. Will the above count as more than one offence in a 3 year period? What if the difference between expiry and removal date ? Do insurance still count these points even though they’ve expired?

Thanks

Insurance companies usually only ask how many points you have on your license at the time you renew, and how many accidents/claims you have had over the last 5/6 years.

As for the committee meeting, he just needs to go and say he admits doing wrong, but he isn't a bad lad and he forgot to mention the speeding on his last application.

In other words, he didn't deliberately try to mislead the council.

Thank you Sussex he’s learnt from last time therefore declared asap his licence has even been endorsed as yet details have been sent off. He would prefer not to attend the licence committee as found it very stressful suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

Do you the difference between expired and removed date? As he still thinks his previous points are valid even though it states 0 points on his licence.

It all depends on the question asked?

If it asks how many points currently on his license then the answer is none.

If they ask how many points have you had in the last 5 years then it’s not none.

If he gets asked to go to a committee meeting then he would be a fool not to go.

Thanks for that.

He will attend if requested just wanted to understand how likely it was as the policy is not clear.
