Worth a read.

The MPs all seem to be on the same side, ours, but the minister is hedging his bets.

The Director of NPHTA is a bit grumpy over the debate in his piece in the November edition of PHTM, and TBH I'm not sure why.

This debate was a stepping stone, albeit a closing debate is not a particularly big one.

All the MPs were on our side, even if they didn't all have a complete grasp of the issue.

According to Andy Burnham, something is coming in the new Devolution Act, and I'm more than happy to reserve my judgment until I've seen that.

Why can they not see that the easy answer is a national set of standards that are relatively easy to enforce and understand, such as those used in the bus industry. Yes, there are those in the bus industry who operate outside "the law" and those that operate on the fringes, but the enforcement of the law can be carried out by DVSA and the police anywhere in the UK regardless of where the vehicle is normally based. It would save all this arguing about varying safety standards. One set for everybody.

MP who brought the late-night debate has a chat with Taxi-Point. A few interesting quotes.
