Our council will not let us use bus lanes http://www.en24.co.uk/content/News/stor ... 3A23%3A450

canary and Nige

Let me give you both a tip,
if you are a taxi its difficult not to let you, buses are hackneys so are taxis, in fact you could f*** all and license your hac as a bus.
all my taxis are also licensed as buses

I use bus lanes even in Mansfield,
tell em that Nige.

I cant see why we arent allowed in bus lanes.

Maybe we need to get all our cars both ph and taxi to get a petition asking customers if they want cheaper taxis.

If we have 200 ph and taxi and each get a 100 signitures, then surely councils will have to look at it.

Able to use the bus lanes in Dundee, this was sanctioned a few years ago,and what a difference.
PH also allowed to use them.

Think that regarding PH using them, joe public with not seeing a taxi sign, thinks they can do the same.

But think that HC and PH,both should be able to use them throughout UK.

Regards'

Nice HC driver.

oh this is bloody boring, we are talking taxis here pal, not private hire it gets bloody repetetive the 2 are different and have different functions.

the public hire function are in the bus lanes, if you let any tom dick or harry in it takes away the benefit of the bus lanes

why should a customer have to pay extra in a ph than a cab.
we all take customers from a to b for payment.
If buses and taxis use them then so should ph.
What about customers who cant get in a black cab. Do you want to discriminate agianst them.
Come into the 21 first century before you lose all your customers.

private hire cars should be banned from the bus lanes!
As it says quite clearly BUSSES AND TAXIS!
PH want the same rights as taxis but not the rules!
get a hackney mate or stop whingeing!

Where I work bioth ph and taxis are allowed in 99.9% of bus lanes.

Which makes common sense. All the firms have both ph and taxis so it would be stupid if on a two car job they had to go different ways.

In Perth 'they' offered to allow 25 cars (out of 70 HC's and100PHC's) to use the bus lanes if they were M1 compliant - we asked what they meant by that and it was said to refer to WAV's but they didn't know what the spec's were to be - and all were to be the same colour - of all our cars in Perth we have five London cabs so where they were to get 25 no one knows - as for the same colour one is red (ghastly shade) two are white and the other has advertising so is Multi coloured so we were left with the prospect of one car able to use the lanes so as you can guess we told them to 'stuff it'.
