Now if Scotland has never issued a Certificate of Initial Fitness, why are there hundreds Limos working there? Or is it easy (apart from Aberdeen) to ignore the whole situation?

It could be that a coif may have been issued by another traffic area which would entitle the vehicle to be used anywhere on UK mainland. The coif is separate from any form of actual operator licence. I have not however heard of any being given a coif anywhere. |

Absolute maddness.
Why is it LOs think they know better than those who spend billions designing the bloody things?

Because they're not carrying more than eight. But there are certainly plenty of limos doing short term hires which should be licensed as PHs, but aren't. |

Surely the way to sort this mess is via the insurance. If they can only be insured for 8 or less, then if they take more, action can be taken quite easily. Of course that's if they are insured.

I am based in Telford and operate both PHV & PCV licensed vehicles, I am getting sick of the state we are getting into re the Limo's, they are NOT Legal and it's time they were kicked into touch.

Limos dont you just love them. Unlicensed drivers and unlicensed vehicles. Customers drinking on route and never wearing seat belts. And yet despite all this it would appear only the odd one or two councils want to do anything about it. It's so much easier to turn a blind eye.
