Many firms advertise as taxis even if they don't have any in their fleets, so IMO as you do now have some then you can call your firm ******* taxis if you want. |

as long as you have one "taxi" on the system you can call youself a taxi firm and put taxi in the window but the p/h cars cant say the word taxi on there door signs etc |

As dinky said, cars have been pulled in Warrington in the last week or so for having "no eating or drinking in this Taxi" stickers in the side windows of PH vehicles. Should know better really. |

You can freely advertise as "Private Hire" but you can not include the word Taxi in any ads. If you have a mix of Hack and PH then ensure that your Ops Licence allows this. Hacks can advertise in their own right but do not attempt to advertise a PH as a Taxi or you will almost certainly loose your licence, and rightly! |

It is a licensing issue, or a trading standards one?

Interesting. The op in our town that doesn't use the meters in his Hackney's also has the word Taxis on his private hire vehicles. Confused.com |

Quote: If you have a mix of Hack and PH then ensure that your Ops Licence allows this. Do PH ops licenses preclude this? Would this stand up in court? Is there case law on this? As Sussex says, I'm not so sure that it's a licensing issue, and I'm not so sure if you're right in any case. But if your LA does have rules on this then they're certainly not universal, so to that extent your information should not be taken to apply in all areas. |
