ITS certificated M1 as a taxi, just like the tx2 and euro 7 however it is not a cabbed vehicle.

your concil will be relieved if you cannot afford the taxi just the ones they want off the road

if you cannot afford to do it-dont.

In Brighton the council license them as saloons but not as WAVs. Which makes bundles of sense to tghe disabled that get ignored.
I would try and get hold of your local disabled group and get there views. But if you cant the bigger fiats are no bad. Around 17/18 grand.

See this is just farsical. :(

If a vehicle that is licensed as a saloon, can be adapted to take wheel chairs, then why the **** can't they do so?

Ask a WAV customer if they would rather go in a Fiat thing, or wait. I'm quite sure they would be more than happy with the Fiat thing.

The nasty smell of dodgy goings on, follow issues like this.

Fiat Freedom, should be granted a license,as in the North of Scotland they are.

Fish vans,Pope Mobiles, and a few other names they are given, but if converted properly, listen to what the customers say about them, not the numpties in the trade who will not do wheelchair work.

All my customers are very happy with them, takes all types of wheelchairs, plenty of head room and easily accessed from the back of the vehicle.

Whether the taxi operators like them or not(the ones that drives saloons)
ignore them,it is the customers that matter.

DOOOOBLO MAN.

Well Sussex let me explain,
the fact is that the dublo robs the wheelchair space if luggage is carried, and if the back seats are needed robs the space then, councils sometimes insist on a more permanent facility.

I have operated WAV's for 15 years from the first Metrocabs, thro' to Mercedes Vito, E7, Nissaan Praries, I have tried most options.
The most popular with w/c customers are forward facing vehicles.
From a drivers point of view they are also better, most hospitals, nursing homes, clinics etc are designed for rear access vehicles as ambulances and social service transport is all rear access. In over 15 years as a hackney WAV I have never had a w/c fare from a rank that was not pre-booked. On many occaisions w/c fares have refused to get into my Vito because they do not like travelling backwards and they prefer to transfer from the w/c into a saloon car and put the w/c in the boot.
The Doblo WAV is safer and more comfortable for the customer and far cheaper than anything else currently available. Space is limited but adaquate, w/c fares rareley have more than one companion travelling with them. I have had a Doblo WAV for just over 1 year and have no complaints, unlike the E7 which we have had 6 months, doors that dont shut, seat belt that don't work etc.

Have u tried metioning the DDA to your licencing office?

OR

Licence it as a 4 passenger vehicle, but remove the cintre seat when u know you are going to need the WAV facility.

I find with my WAV's that even on rank most jobs are normally for 1 to 3 passengers, so I seldom lose a rank fare. :D
