Are Bradford Taxis and Privat hire vehicles safe for women? This question must be raised because there is a further allegation of Rape against a Bradford driver. I suspect the majority of drivers in Bradford are Asian because all the recent allegations and convictions have been against Asian Drivers. Is there a culture among Asian men that women are subserviant and therefore they think it gives them the right to violate a women?

Whatever the reason for this spate of attacks on women, Bradford's Taxi and Private hire industry certainly has a serious image problem.

I think the problem is that all the time people get away with things, then those things will keep happening.

But as the story on TDO says, when the council are 5 LOs down, then something has to give.

but what the TD story misses is that cover for enforcement officers in West Yorkshire is provided by the police.

I wonder if that's the reason the quality of some drivers is so low?

I thought that the accountability of police lay within the Polie Authority, or even Police Authority!!! with guidelines issued by the Home Office and nothing to do with half-baked local councillors who are then crowing on about crime figures !!!!

I think that both the police and the council should be part of the licensing system. Especially, as happens quite regulary in Bradford, when the bad apples slip through.
