I only found out this morning that in February the DfT officially recognised the GMBPDB as a legitimate stakeholder. I'm surprised no one on TDO mentioned it. If it was mentioned then I missed it.

Representation can only be a good thing no matter who is being represented? I think every organisation needs a platform to express the views of its collective membership. When you have diverse interests such as you do in the Taxi trade then one particular viewpoint seldom appeals to the other sections of the Taxi trade. What we want to see now from the GMPDB is positive action in lobbying the DfT for new legislation, something which practically all the other so called stakeholders are vehemently against.

That's very dependant on the quality of the person(s) doing the representation. For instance you wouldn’t want an illiterate, foul mouthed unprofessional body representing you? You would expect someone who can communicate and at least take the effort to dress in the correct manner.

I see to become a stakeholder, you literally write a letter to Farmer and you're in.

Perhap's TDO should write in and claim a place?

A valid point indeed, but we all know we're not always treated as equals.

As for JD's point about new legislation, well I suspect the GMBPDB (outside London bit) will ask for a complete review of taxi/PH laws.

Might not happen this year, might be told to f*** off and leave the gov alone. But it wont be through lack of effort.

Or so I'm told.

I can confirm the GMB PDB National Organising Committee were accepted as a legitimate stakeholder by the Dft. I can also confirm the GMB PDB will always propose their members wishes, what ever they are regarding the H/C and P/H industry.

As at the time of writing no proposals have been received from members regarding new legislation. If it is ever proposed and mandated by the National Organising Committee, the GMB will use all of its resources to achieve its members wishes.
