BTEC Training

This will give you an idea on what will be needed to pass the course, sorry if it's already been posted i haven't been on for ages!

Just getting geared up to start this. Thank you very much for that link; It makes interesting reading.

We're combining the Btech with NVQ 2. Unfortunately, somehow I've managed to get myself saddled with organising it for the whole f*****g company; 63 cars and 100+ drivers!! :cry:

I'm not going to read that link because I feel I will just be going over old ground.

I think we first have to ask ourselves,

is there a need for a BTEC or level 2 NVQ, in taxi driving and transport?

In my opinion you have two categories, the old and the new.

Should the elderly who have held taxi licenses for decades be subject to a course delivered by juniors who have held taxi licenses for perhaps only one or two decades?

You first have to consider how pertinent is the content of the course and how qualified is the person delivering the course?

If we examine the course structure and look at the person delivering the course then it is quite conceivable that us older guys are going to probe the mind of the tutor to the extent that he won't know whether he is coming or going?

I don't have to remind you that Mr GA has an examiners certificate and I applaud him for that but consistently on this website we have pointed out his failings.

Therefore how high do you draw the line?

I've seen references in private hire monthly of people who have these qualifications but in many cases they have never driven a cab in their lifetime. In fact Bryan Rolands has never driven a cab in his lifetime and if I'm wrong then I'll stand corrected

However I'm very seldom wrong and my stance on this issue is that every applicant for a license should submit themselves to a stringent test and if they don't pass that test then they can always sit it again.

It is then up to them how they obtain the necessary information that enables them to pass the test on the second ocassion.
