Anyone care to guess at how many of these meeting of mindless reps actually drive a cab? We can exclude Bryan Rolands, we can exclude Joanne Conolly and we can exclude George Simms, I suppose we can also exclude Wayne Casey considering he's a part timer and only turns up when the job is lucrative? To be honest I don't know a lot about the Liverpool T & G but I do know they haven't a mandate to represent the national T&G taxi trade. The LO of Sefton John Thompson has never driven a cab in his life so which of this motley crew can we really trust? None of them as far as I'm concerned. Does the DfT want the views of real cab drivers or does it want to listen to people who have no mandate to speak on behalf of anyone? Regards JD |

A classic quote from John Thompson Licensing officer of Sefton. He says, "Once again all three licences will have to be issued by one authority". I'm going to inform Mr Thompson that hackney carriage drivers have never been subject to three licenses and neither have they been subject to the 1976 private hire act except where specifically stated. I suggest NALEO get their act together and employ a representative who knows what they are talking about? I'm going to expose the frailties of licensing officers in the next few days so I hope the DfT has its ears on? Regards JD |

The more I think about this, the bitter I get. When you see the minutes of this motley crew that go by the name of, "the meeting of minds" then you will realise what kind of people we are dealing with. George Simms of the Manchester TOA is very nice person but he doesn't drive a cab anymore because he's near 70. He decided to call it a day when he started to fall asleep at traffic lights. That's his legacy. He got a free plate around 12 month ago after he sold the plate that he already had. He is part of the National taxi trades group which we all know as the NTTG, simply because he is the secretary of the Manchester Taxi Owners and Drivers association. If you look at the minutes of the latest meeting of mindless you will see that George seconds all of the proposals. Regards JD |

Liverpool when they went down to London to asked David Farmer to change legislation so that private hire drivers had to return to their own licensed area before they could take a radio job. And they had the same level of success as I expect those folks wanting to make hackney drivers get their own PH ops license, and allowing PH ops to offer work to the world.
