yes most that limit by numbers do like Calderdale Council, in effect the entertainment licences and drinks licences will too this is because it comes from the licensing budget, this is a difficult budget to hone down. congratulations to Brighton Private Hire for unravelling this and bringing home the point Calderdale Council has only 47 restricted by numbers taxis plus about 30 in areas not restricted, in the restricted numbers area I estimate more public hire are undertaken illegaly by private hire, than public hire premiums in the restricted part used to be £70,000 estimated today the open market has been closed so its difficult to know how much today I ve lost touch, but I expect it to have dropped. |

I spoke to a cab driver who is also a councillor today. He said the the council passed the ph paying for the survey. He even voted for it himself. Is that allowed? Also they voted to change the fares and he voted on that as well. Is that allowed a councillor cab driver voting on fares? |

Is that allowed? Also they voted to change the fares and he voted on that as well. Is that allowed a councillor cab driver voting on fares? it all depends on whether the standards committee gave permission, its highly irregular, however in Brighton and Hove there doesnt seem to be any decency around licensing. |

But I think changes are afoot, and you just never know what the situation will be by this time next year. But I'm reliably informed the status quo is no-longer an option.
That will give Mr Scanner and his cartel something to mull over.
