When National Express entered into negotiations with Station Taxis for the right to run the station at York, no one else was given the opportunity to bid, one of our colleagues on the rank says that any franchise has to be advertised to comply with the law, can anyone throw any light on this please.

![]() I suppose the question should be, "did National Express have the right to extend the existing contract between station taxis and themselves"? I suppose the answer to that is yes. If the answer is no then perhaps your colleague on the rank can supply the answers? Is an extension of an existing contract a new one? I suppose if the terms of the contract were changed then it could well be construed as a new one but does National Express have to advertise it? Did you ask your colleague why? Regards JD |
