How absolutely crazy & irresponsible of these LAs to license a three door vehicle from the point of view of safety & comfort. How many passengers are they licensed for? But then again, didn't another LA (Cambridge perhaps???) license the two seater Smart car a year or two ago? If I remember correctly their reasoning was that most taxi journeys are taken by single passengers. The mind boggles!!!! |

how many councils already plate MPV's where rear access is past/over another row, like sharans/galaxies, etc.... and those back seats are for the vertically challenged... |

I understand, and agree with, your point, but if it was a fire risk for punters then surely it would also be a fire risk for passengers if the vehicle was unlicensed. Putting a plate on the back really shouldn't effect fire risk. Therefore if VOSA and the crash test folks have deemed it safe, how can anyone conclude otherwise?

Sussex...a council has a duty of care.... if it fails in that duty it can be sued.... now a two-door vehicle might be perfectly all right for the everyday person after all he can't sue himself can he..... Any council that Licence a two-door saloon vehicle is well leaving themselves open. if that vehicle is involved in an accident and the front passengers are trapped how do the rear passengers get out..... and in the case of a death..... that council might well have some serious questions to answer about its duty of care.... licensing officers need retraining.....

Are licensing officers better placed to decide on a vehicles safety than VOSA and the crash test dummy folks? I say NO. 
Are they better place to decide on suitability for the job of taxi/PH? I say maybe. So they should use that reasoning rather that the safety scare tactics.

You really don't understand councils do you ... pavements are their responsibility and they have to fend off millions of pounds each year in claims. councils have a responsibility for the safety of the public..... if not... why do you argue that the tut-tuts are unsafe ...... you can't have your cake and eat it..... even though you want to . |

i have no safety issues with this vehicle,the way i see it in the event of a fire i could easily open my door run and hide behind a wall untill the vehicle explodes,other issues do concern me,what about the large drunk who cant stand,its hard enough getting him out a four door imagine getting him out a two door,then there is the pensioners, ill bet they love manouvering into and out of this cars back seats |

Because they are and were. Once Type Approval comes in for buses/taxis/PH, Tuk Tuks will be a thing of the past.
