i always make sure any kids are fastened in before i pull away.

shouldn't matter what the laws says, what sort of parent would let their 2 year old sit in the back without a seat belt on?

The criteria for use is the same as for the general public viz the driver of a vehicle is responsible for any person under 16 thereafter the responsibility rests with the "adult" , provided seat belts are fitted and available they must be used, the only exception to the drivers responsibilty is when there is a fixed partition between the driver and the rear passenger compartment ,as an ex Traffic Cop I always advise Taxi drivers of the possible effect to their pockets as a child standing unrestrained in the rear/front of the car is classed as carrying passengers in a dangerous manner which accrues penalty points.

thats why cops make poor enforcement officers they never forget past predudices

    I never made the comment but how true, you try to inform drivers how not to loose their licences but they assume the White Cap mentality still prevails, read the R.T.A and form your own ideas and see how long before you get ticketed for carrying under 16s w/o a seatbelt.

As an ex traffic cop how many private hire divers did you charge with illegally plying for hire? And how conversent are you with the 1847 act and other legislation apertaining to the Taxi trade? We all know the legislation apertaining to seat belts but what do you know about the taxi trade?

Half the punters I carry are more likely to assault me than put their seatbelts on, the police are ineffective when it comes to protecting anyone and are only competant at driving dangerously, siting speed cameras and checking road tax.

If its got no revenue then its not a priority, and that goes for so called enforcement officers and licensing departments.

people are allowed to stand in my car mate ............. as long as they pay me without hitting me on their way out.
