Hi all,

We are based in Manchester and find it very difficult to locate operators who are experienced with Autocab systems.

Does anybody recommend any training programmes for us to find it eaiser to recruit new individuals to take on and get them trained up quickly?

how do other taxi companies get around this problem.

Any help appreaciated.

In house training usually works for all the others. Do you set them on without giving them office training on the system?

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for reply, we actually train in house but they pick up the operators bad habits whereas it would be good if Autocab actually did training courses to ensure the operators are taugh the full know how on the systems. We also find it does take time to this way and does cost quite an amount but it has to be done.

I think the manufacturers train them up when they first install the system then that's is I think.

This might offend you Chillinlong but I think you are trying to solve the wrong problem.

Those of us with computers systems all use them in slightly different ways to adapt to the working practices that our company have adopted over the years. So a system supplier would struggle to offer in depth training that would be relevant to all their different system users.

In house training is the only solution. If that isn't working then it is possibly because of a combination of two elements;

Are you recruiting the correct candidates? Are you ensuring they have the correct skills for the job?

Is your training programme as good as it should be? Do you structure the induction and is the trainer 'on message' to reflect what you need. Do you infact have a 'standard proceedure'.

As a company we changed our recruitment policy and stopped trying to turn drivers into despatchers. We went for younger people with experience in logistics (parcel delivery etc) and trained them for a prolonged period). This has paid huge dividends.
