Anyone ever tried one of these tuning box's for dieseil engines, some have quite good claims for improvements in BHP and MPG ?

They just clip onto the engine and the feedback the sellers get seems good

Sorry everytime I try to insert a picture into post it fails :)

So heres a general link of ebay.

I've come across them, one on a Ford Torneo and another on a Peugeot 308.
Both drivers say they get better economy (about 10 miles extra per £10 fuel) and less turbo lag.
For £70, I'm tempted to get one soon

A tuning box will never be as good as a proper remap.

A proper remap will not only increase the power and torque of the vehicle, it will improve the MPG. I have seen VW caravelles increase from 28 to 35 mpg for town driving and on average it gives you anything from 5-15% savings.

If you drive 60k a year at an average of 40mpg you will use 1500 gallons or 6825 litres.

At (i'm being generous) £1.35 per litre that will cost you £9213.75 per year in fuel.

Retuned - at say, 45mpg (roughly 10% increase) your fuel consumption would be 1333 gallons (or 6065 litres).

6065 litres @ £1.35 = £8187.75

Savings = £1026 per year.

Cost of average proper professional Checkatrade.com approved tune is from £275

We at 1st taxi Solutions are able to offer this service through a sister company TH Performance (http://www.thperformance.co.uk).

You can find some information on these "tuning boxes" on the internet. A chap took one to pieces and all that was inside was a resistor. Read this first.

Yep, the resistor just sends an electrical pulse which in turn chucks more deisel in. Nothing like a proper tune. :)

Nope, none of them are tbh.

We've tuned quite a few skoda's, they are a completely different car once tuned, they way it should be. 8)
