Would not lock myself into the Apple ecosystem at all!

Android (even though its not strictly "Open Source") would be my choice everytime! And if you HAD to have the Iphone...buy an Android LGG3 or Nexus and skin it with an Iphone theme! Done.

That is all our drivers need.

Methinks most base owners DONT want it, so they can keep rents high in relation to any savings, i.e. PDA+data sim, £500 a year to them, rent out at £150 a week...., or £300 a week if it goes out 2 shifts a day

Our base has pitched rental cars too high at £320/week for a Octavia, or £60 per 12 hour shift, in the next LA a hack E7 is under £200

at the same time a PDA 24/7 is £150/week meaning a car WITH PDA is only £150 a week more, (just add fuel) and thats barely enough difference to entice anyone to own a car

(and why i wont do 24/5 with my own car)

BUT he does part time rents down to £20 for 9 hour shifts

One day there will be no base rents because there will be no bases. Everyone will be using Uber type apps.

I reckon bases will switch to just renting cars and there will be no company dataheads or phone numbers/operators and they wont take bookings at all. Give it ten years, 20 and there won't be any taxi firms as we know them now, either they adapt to new income streams or close completely - but they certainly won't be taking customer bookings over the phone and passing them out to drivers.

am not sure you will be entirely correct with this but I agree that the majority of bookings "for now" will be through apps. However there will be some people, like the elderly, who will not get to grips with apps and how do these apps cope with cancellations and changes to bookings?
