Here if you put a meter in a PH, it must be set at hack fare rate, one reason there's no meters in PH cars.

I seem to remember reading somewhere, that Ashfield hackney vehicles set one of there tariffs to the same as Mansfield hacks, so they were not over charging when picking up flyers in Mansfield ?

I have loads of em.
P/hire fares are set by the operator, and councils set various conditions in there operator licence? Some conditions say, the fare must be agreed at the time of booking, for example. However, if a meter is fitted s71 comes into play? It's on here.
The only time there is any form of control is when a hackney is used for p/hire services? In such case s67 makes it clear, they can't charge more than than the table of fares for hackneys.
So the operator agrees a fare with customer, say £10, but the table of fare price is £5, the p/hire car can charge £10, but the hack can only charge £5.

I can't see where LA can check a ph meter as ph set their own rates.if it was inaccurate then that would be a trading standards issue, nothing to do with LA .

Where have you heard that from? It's not true, Mansfield run on the same as Ashfield on Tariff one.

If I fit a meter in a PH, at the same tariff as a hack in my LA, will the LO want to charge me the same to check the meter as they do with a hack, PH's dont require meters here

i asked the LO and they never got back to me "weve never been asked that before............."

Get a recon one from Pitts in Nottingham. I was over there yesterday having my meter fixed, they'll do one for £150+ VAT.

I can sell you a taxitronics TX34 for £60 plus postage or you can collect if you prefer.

I wouldn't know where to start with the fitting. I have 2 of them that were taken out of cars when we scrapped them for being to old.
