as someone who has worked in the industry for 12 years here is my humble opinion. you need data with a voice option, data is the best thing to happen to the industry, the driver gets the pick up address, name of passenger, destination and most important of all, the passengers phone number, this means that the driver can phone the passenger direct and tell them exactly where they are. no more three way conversations, with driver, passenger and controller!! it also means that as a driver its nice and quiet in the car, no more listening to the controller getting more and more stressed as the night goes on!!! drivers make the job harder than it is, when i drive i don't have any of the problems my drivers seem to get, but i am sensible and can talk to the passengers in english which is a bonus!! by the way, drivers mobile phone bills are tax deductable so the argument"i'm spending my money calling passengers, doe's not apply.

Psssst! Got any good numbers recently? Preferably a blue eyed blond  I hope your office asks each customer if they mind having their private numbers given out to the drivers! We've been asked to do that but declined on the grounds that it may well break a whole load of laws in the UK.

As far as I know, all data systems have a voice option that can be used as and when needed. Ringback is normally regarded a far better method of getting the customer to come out for you and again most systems have this these days.

As for operators not answering the phones, we provide a little counter on the screen that records how many calls they have taken and this becomes a bit of a game for them allowing them to compare with each other how many they've taken. Simple solution that seems to work well without a whole load of technology! Incidentally, we currently working on an automated system that will take the calls without any operator. Interesting stuff and companies seem to want this sort of thing despite most people myself included, hate these sorts of things!

Smiffyz... Good to see someone from the home patch on the forum. I know a few drivers that work on the Crown/Abba circuit. I wonder if you know Steve Peacock or Dave Snutch both friends of mine. Steve’s a relative newby at Abba but Dave’s been hacking for about 20 years and is now gone to Direct Cars.

Anyway gota go, go a job to do in Peterborough for the next few days. eusasmiles.zip

BTW, at the moment we're looking for a more up to date Phone/Dispatch system, with forced calls to the phone staff etc.
The age old problem of staff not answering phones raises it's ugly head once again.

Hi
If you want that then I would recommend the Samsung Office Serv 500 which will give you the forced feeding of calls and will also interface to your autocab system.

Drop me a PM for more info
