Mobisoft!!!!!!

Well it will suit your bus routing stuff.

GPRS seems to have far less connection issues than voice does for us. There are small areas where connection doesn't happen, but you soon reconnect within 200 yards.

We haven't lost GPRS more than 3 times in two years.

Anyway I hear one company has ordered a very large number of CT4000's so they are obviously working well.

My XDAs are two years old now and I am impressed how well they have lasted.

Hi Tom, How you keeping?

Wasn't my decision. I just let it happen. If it doesnt work out, it will go the way of the other systems. <Andy harbours secret thoughts as to where that will be>

Sounds like you are still happy with Cordic. Thats good.

Yes, our Sony XDA IIs are about two years old now. Did have freezing problems, but now sgot used to them.

Our XDA's freeze up if we use the map on the flash card. Apart from that very happy.

Though the web booker could be more sophisticated (hint hint if your reading Don).

Andy, if you stopped buying and then chucking out systems you would have far more time to post on here.

Geoff at Mobisoft will be in a state of shock if you have signed up. Have you visited their offices? You need a good gps system to find them.

We've been beg stealing and borrowing systems and demos for nearly three years now. I should be an "expert" but all a waste of time really.

I am seriously unimpressed with most. I do have a favourite, as you know, but i dare not mention its name on here. While a favourite system, it still has problems (as you also know!). I would like to buy the firm and then tweak the system to what we want while selling it to others who must want similar things. But, my boss wont let me buy them - even if they were for sale. We went through a "buy at next liquidation" phase, but my boss got bored with that and we moved on.

We've rented Mobi for a few months, and are busy playing with it now. It is a very powerful set of software if you know how to use it. Problem is, I don't. Not all that intuitive. I did have a brief look at the manual. Not a lot of help there!

We are currently learning Finnish I think.

No, I have not been to their offices. May have a trip out to Tampere later.

Do you know what happened to Jim Beavan and Think Fleet?

Jim had a nervous breakdown trying to get his head round your silly demands

Seriously though I don't. I am sure he was at Coventry this year, but I didn't stop and chat because he was talking.

Don't go to Tampere for a few months..... it is even colder than Essex.

The major problem I have found (aka: My Silly demands" as you call them) were for a system that could handle a 60:40 split, where the Circuit acts as principal for the account work, and as agent for cash work, yet handles the VAT in a legal manner.

I can cite specific instances (you may know some yourself) where people have had prosecutions from HM Revenue (bless em) for VAT "irregularities" which they didn't understand because they thought "the system" handled all that.

Get a computer system salesman to explain the Agency/Principal rules and you are well on the way to a system that handles them.

Question: How many systems do you know, which have actually been accepted and approved by HM Revenue and Customs?

These will be the systems that probably account in their favour, rather than ours. And the two are not the same. But the legislation is.
