is there any point moving plots?

i still get "out of plot" jobs if im needed, it "countdowns" to me getting a job, switching between screens is not easy (jobs+plots/bids/map) frustrating to say the least

and the satnavs crap

That's a how longs a piece of string type question. The only right solution is what works best for both the drivers and the customers and even when you get it just about right it's still a compromise.

Make the plots so huge and you may as well just have a list of who's next for a job with no regard to the distance you travel or how long the customer has to wait. Go too far the other way and you have virtually no travelling distance but you could spend the whole shift waiting for a job in your actual area. This way you spend half your life bidding for jobs or end up being pulled away to cover them and most driver hate it when that happens.

In short a lot of thought and planning needs to go into deciding the size of the areas and so many companies don't spend anywhere enough time doing it.

Hope that helps

Bill :)

Is it typical of all circuits using Mercury that failing to accept a job in time or rejecting a job gets you logged off?

No, they can alter that in the office, it only needs a box un-ticked.

Yeah but it might put you to the back of the que if they've got that box ticked that says, when driver comes back off break put to back of que.

That's the problem with data, you can feed like billyo and no one finds out. There's ways and means round every system.

We had a nice chat with a chap from Mercury at the taxi show today. I couldn't get him to say a bad word about you Nidge even though it was clear that he knew who you were. he gave us a demonstration of Mercury 2 it seems to be an all singing and all dancing system that will do everything that anyone wants it to do and possibly more besides. However both my son and I said that it seemed to be over complicated.
