On our Auriga system we have an option where if a Hackney is given a job and on route there is a flag he may take the flagdown and reject the job on data head . Do any of you other folk have this system and if so what are your thoughts

Most do have the facility and it has to be there because there are many genuine instances where jobs do need to be returned and dispatched to another car. As for the cherry picking, that depends on how the company’s run because most employ various safeguards such as forcing the driver onto voice and or penalising drivers who misuse it. I was at a Hack company some years back and saw one job actually get returned 8 times. When it gets to that stage you really have to ask the question if the company should be accepting calls when they know there’s so much work on the streets. Bill

Operator should be able to give permission to go ahead & take the flagdown. I would say that if the phone job was due to be picked-up and ALL cars were busy then a HC driver should ignore the flag down. I understand that the flag job is there right now, but you may be jepardising a regular customer for some instant gratification. The HC should be asking him/herself, would I be even on this road if it wasn't for the phone job?

You can set the message button up to send a message to base saying something like "Can you recover job picked up a flag down" Then base just recovers the job and you hit your flag down button.
