Has anybody got the same problems with the data unit brackets that are put into the vents to hold your data unit the police have taken many of our drivers off the road telling them that the bracket must be screwed down to the dash the police are saying they are unsafe if they are not screwed down even though we have had the same brackets in the vents for over 12 years without any problem

Never heard of that one!

I use a mobile phone holder 'arm' with a suction cup in the corner of the windscreen. Works a treat.

i know that "some" insurance firms will void your insurance if in thevent of a prang its found that your radio was not securley fixed to the car.

never heard it about data heads though.

Obv if you`re using a pda, then as the prev poster said, a suction type thing will work very well.

Mine holds my data head. I've adapted the bracket to screw into the back of the data head which just happens to have some covenient screw holes.

windscreen suction holders are fine thats what the police are saying but some of the data units are so big i dont think you can get the suction brackets also if you look at the autocab omega unit its 12 inch wide & the companies who have them here have had major issues with the police as well i was wondering if this was country wide or only in the west midlands

Make a bracket that fixes under your dash then secures itself by the way of 2 screws, it's not hard to do it will take you about 20 mins.
