I am looking to buy a few new taxi radios, probably about one or two as the business is slowly building and all the radios are out so need one or two spare.

Can anyone tell me what are the best or most cost effective radios to buy? I bought a Maxon radio off Ebay but was told by the company that programmes them to my frequency that it was a dud, that the signal was breaking up and not constant. Because of this I am not sure if I should take the risk and buy another one off ebay or buy a brand new one? Can anyone tell me what are the best, Kenwood, Motorola etc or does it all come down to preference?

We are still using the old system of talk through radios by the way, business is building but very slowly!

Why not rent them off a local Radio dealer?? They won't cost you a lot plus you'll get all the repairs done for nothing.

I buy mine from a small dealer near me.

Basic sets cost from £50 with 6 months guarentee...

£2 per week is cheap enough to throw them away..

Saying that most are still working over2 years later..... 8)
