if you want 1.20 a mile how wud you sort it? if it wer a pound a mile itd be 10p point tenth of a mile obviously :roll: but you can hardly go round messing about with 12p per tenth of a mile :shock: just wonderin wot yer do,cheers :oops:

you make it click over at 10p per so many yards/meters (cant be bothered with the maths) if you want the fare to end up being a multiple of 10p.

No problem to the meter setters.

The options are many.

1. £1.20 per 1760 yards

2. £0.60 per 880 yards.

3. £0.40 per 586 yards and 2 feet.

3. £0.30 per 440 yards.

4. £0.15 per 220 yards.

5. £0.10 per 176 yards.

6. £0.05 per 88 yards.

....and these are just the more obvious ones.

10p for 176 yards...outrageous! I would sooner walk...and I bet it does not cost that in fuel. :mrgreen:

You should have said you were PH.

It's quite easy really, you just think of a number and double it, to calculate the fare. Of course you multiply by four for disabled passengers.

Nonsense!!..if PH were not competitive pricewise they'd never get any work..its in their interest to be as keenly priced as any hack is other wise the clients just go elsewhere..

Price it in quarter of a mile sections i.e. 30p drops.

yeah but on a trip its either.2 or.3,i dont want punters getting a different fare off the driver every time they make the same trip,just starting out with my own outfit and one thing im goin to be a bit fussy about is fares :shock:

Well your not going to get cars with trip meters that do anything other than 1/10 mile.
If you want to charge £1.20 a mile with 10p units, you will have to fit meters. Otherwise it's 12p per 1/10 mile.

You could do 12p per 1/10 mile and round it down to the nearest 10p.

You might also want to consider a minimum fare e.g. £2/£3 or even £5. Otherwise you could end up running all over the place for uneconomic hires.

its 3 pound 1st mile then 1.20 a mile thereafter i want to be chargin,ive had a good sniff around and i reckon that shud be about right :-|

make it £3.50 for the 1st mile and £1.50 a mile there after
you will need the extra income to pay for the repairs to the car
