Post subject:  Datamaster System

We purchased a booking system from Datamaster back in October 2011 to replace our ailing Auriga Sirrus data system, and so far have been amazed at how well it all runs!

We had a few little problems with the way the software initially worked, such as we run fixed fares, split down from zones, rather than zone to zone prices. Data master took around 4 days to write a mod, to make it work the way we wanted!
We didn't want the drivers to see which zone a job was in when it was offered to them (They used to refuse anything from our local Tesco!). That took around 3 weeks for the PDA software to be reworked.

We have also found our job counts are increasing steady, January to May 2011 has recorded a 30% increase in work, with almost no marketing, just word of mouth about features such as the Text Back and web booking services!

New staff can be taught how to use the system in around a day. It used to take at least a week with our previous system.

I would like to say a big thank you to Bill, Matt, Slick & the team who look after us. Your system has made running our business a lot easier!

We are so pleased with the new system, if anyone thinking of investing in a data system, give us a call, we will be happy to show you how well everything works!

Thanks for that Andrew. I don’t know whether I owe you a beer now or you owe me one. :wink: either way it’s good to see things are going in the right direction for you. We’d like to think we played some part in your success but at the end of the day, we only provide you with the tools to do a job; how you use the tools is all down to you.

We work long and hard to give people exactly what they want and provided the requests are reasonable and in the interest of the taxi business then we’re quite happy to write it. And that’s precisely how we develop our software.

It’s interesting how different people see our business though. A couple of weeks back, a company we were installing at told me that one of his rivals had told him that we were so desperate that we were giving the software away. He was half-right I suppose, we don’t charge for software, but as for being desperate for work, I think not. At the moment we’ve never been busier with six full installs last month and a couple of PDA migrations thrown in for good measure.

Anyway enough waffle, I’m off to pack my suitcase and put my feet up for a few days. Think I’ve earned this one! 8)

Datamaster must be good if it can also break the space time continuem.
