We had a new start last week. so I installed his radio and pda (datamaster enabled, of course) and after a brief instruction on it's operation off he went. There then followed 2 days of moaning about the PDA. I checked, double and even trebled checked the application the wiring, everything checked out. I even swapped PDAs with him to allay his misgivings. It can only be him, I thought. He must be pressing all sorts of keys or playing with his meter. So after he again gave the controller grief, I met him at the office and when I opened his door the wall of heat that met me was unbelievable. The PDA was on a vent holder and as I took it off I near lifted the skin off my hand. It was practically glowing. No wonder he was having problems, the unit was cooked to a crisp. Just as well I read the warning thread on here or I may have discounted the heat as being the source of the trouble. One suction mount, and an adjustment to the temperature later and all's well. |

Some like it hot as the saying goes. I had a similar issue but at an office in Rochdale. They kept complaining their workstations were going off but it wasn’t till we actually called round that the true cause became apparent. After we picked ourselves up having been knocked down by the heat wave as the door opened, we read the following message on the screen. “This system has shut down to protect itself from extreme environmental conditions!” Bit of a give-away really. On the subject of heat, today is forecast to be one of the hottest days of the year and already we’ve had several calls from people experiencing charging problems. It’s worth remembering that under these conditions, it’s advisable to try and either provide some shade or move your device to the air vent.  The problem is that the circuitry inside the PDA is designed to protect the battery, which doesn’t like being charged when it’s too hot and this can result in the battery going flat even though the charger is connected. I find some white card does the trick. It doesn't help with the PDA's being black. |

Mine is white but still gets too hot. Luckily mine is tucked away against the pillar so stays in the shade most of the time. It's my poor phone that takes most of the stick |
