For less than £1.00 per day, Info-Cabs Limited in Essex, supply, install, maintain and provide free data control management on all taxi CCTV systems it provides so the driver does not have to do a single thing. The Info-Cabs system is the most comprehensive taxi CCTV system available on the market which exceeds the highest specification set out by any Local Authority. The system comprises of a wide angle, infra red camera linked to a secure,tamper resistant hard drive unit fitted within the vehicle. All recorded data is 256bit encrypted and password protected AND only downloaded (VIA SECURE 3G) when requested by the Police, Local Licensing Authority or Driver when an incident occurs. Only Info-Cabs licensed and registered Data Controller has access to the data and only when it is requested by an official ie. Police or Licensing Authority and even then a complete data trail beginning with a signed request form, access viewing details of all personnel, data date and time download forms, security sealed master and working copy disks and subject of rights access forms has to be completed and adhered to. Data is only stored for up to a maximum of 30 days and then overwritten automatically. It is a common misconception that drivers assume that they and their families are being spied on when they are using their vehicles for personal use but drivers must realise that even though they have CCTV recording in their vehicle, it IS NOT being viewed by ANYONE. Also, when a vehicle has been licensed as a taxi or private hire vehicle it then becomes public transport and no longer falls under a private vehicle.
