They must have a facility where one or two data-heads are repaired as and when. :?

Electronic things go wrong all the time, they just need fixing asap.

It’s probably just a broken unit but try moving the GPS antenna outside the vehicle because sometimes, electrical interference from the car or something inside can cause problems. We had one recently where the car would work perfectly all day but then be rubbish at night and it turned out to be just the night driver’s mp3 player.

In another instance, someone had removed a cover from the music radio in order to make it fit in the hole. That didn’t just affect his GPS but every other cab within about 50 feet of him.

Bill :)

Well if nothings changed with either the car or equipment then it’s going to be simply a broken unit and it’s 20 years old it’s done well.

There is a battery inside the datahead, open up datahead and change battery, it is soldered, but quite easy to do, Autocab will charge you £60 to do it, you can get batteries from Maplins.

Why should he be doing it? If he was a driver with my company I would be giving him a replacement unit that works. He is paying radio dues so should get the service from the people he is paying the money too. I think its pretty disgusting that he has had to come onto this forum and ask the question to get his unit fixed.

I dont think I would like to drive for a company like that.

It should not be the joys of taxiing. Is the people you drive for a co-op, association of some guy that owns the company? Why pay £72 a week? How much could you be loosing a week due to faulty equipment in your vehilce?
