If anyone is having problems with connection on Vodafone with the Panther PDA's then try putting the sim card in sim slot 2. As you look at the PDA with the back off it's the uppermost slot. Be careful though as the sim card needs to be turned over to "face down". We had trouble with the sim in sim slot 1 but since switching to sim slot 2 they run miles better. It seems that Exel think the sim cards are "going to sleep" in sim slot 1 whenever there is a period of inactivity. Worth a try ! :-)

Throw the PDA out of the window.

Many moons ago, we had several companies running on Vodafone that also “went to sleep.” The reason turned out to be our data packets were so small that Vodafone’s metering wasn’t recording anything and so the accounts were deactivated. At least that’s what they told us but I think it’s more likely to be an administrative cock up. If you look carefully at the markings on your device, you’ll see the slots are marked for 2G and 3G. The primary sim slot (1) will normally default to the 3G service to give a higher speed for normal Internet browsing but the 3G network doesn’t always give the coverage you need. By moving to slot 2, your device is probably defaulting to 2G. Bill

We are now running on the roaming SIM cards. 5 networks on one SIM card. Much better reliability.
