I have used Taximeter by Planet Coops in the past. Great to use but heavy on the battery. Don't need it anymore due to Datamaster adding job pricing on their android pda |

Can a private Hire vehicle accept bookings via these apps? obviously these would bypass the office I may be working for! |

So as long as you use an app, a private hire driver does not need an operators license to accept bookings. |

I’m getting confused now. If a booking app doesn't send the booking to the office and instead sends it directly to a private hire driver then surely that opens up a whole can of licensing worms. Effectively this means that the driver is then working for two separate companies and a lot of offices just won’t allow this given they’re potentially picking up their customers. Bill

Bill Can they legally stop a self employed, owner driver from accepting bookings from more than one operator? |

I don’t know if they can or not I’m no legal expert? But if a company is being run for private hire and is accepting bookings on the understanding that they have cars available which then turn out to be unavailable then they’re not going to be too happy. I’ve just had a thought though! One of the biggest problems with the self-employed driver (in particular Hackneys) is that they often end up throwing phone work back because they end up having a flag down. Ok so on a conventional office system this can deal with this but what happens with a booking via an App? Would a driver feel any more responsible for an app booking than one passed from the office?   Bill

Providing the ops and drivers have the same license then nothing can stop them legally, just one op might boot you off their fleet. |

I would assume that most app work would have a re-issue function. |
