Hi guys, I've had a look at past posts but am trying to separate the wheat from the chaff, here's my situation, I run a small rural private hire firm, we are ticking along nicely with pen and paper but with recent advances in tech I'd like to keep us current, i'd like to be enable our customers to access our diary and book fares and prepay via an app with paypal, card or account, we also run a blacklist of idiots we dont pick up, it'd be nice if to these muppets we appeared fully booked, i'd like to also run a fair cancellation policy similar to hotels, ie i get to keep retentions based on a sliding scale of closeness to cancellation ontop of the standard map functions enabled by gps, old posts suggest what looks like a desktop system called Datamaster, which kind of looks dos based and very dated, I've seen others suggest auto cab ghost. Please weigh in current thoughts as to what would suit me best, happy to hear alt suggestions ect

I think that with only three cars you’re going to struggle to find anything that meets your quite specific needs from any of the main providers, irrespective of what you pay.

As a general rule, companies of your size tend to work very differently than the larger companies and each one would require a bespoke solution that wouldn’t be viable for any company to attempt to produce. There are some “off the shelf” packages out there that attempt to be all things to all men but inevitably they’re unlikely to do everything you want. My personal recommendation would be that you use some for of intelligent spreadsheet software and that way you can make it work the way you need it.

BTW our software is one of the most advanced systems out there and has never been DOS based. I think that my attempts to help out with some of the smaller companies that post here may have coloured you opinion of our products.

Regards

Bill :)
