They have from now stopped any further development on Mercury 2 as they have decided to stop throwing good money after bad.

They've got rid of loads of staff so something must be going off.

None round here have had it fitted, mind you there's only two firms round here who have it fitted. They know what Exel are like.

yes theyve joined forces and be honest its geting worse. ive always told it like it is and had few debates over mercury with nidge. the 1st 3 years were great and the system worked briliant. The last 6 months have been a nightmare and the final straw was the recent update we had for the pda,s took all the drivers plate no,reg no and names out of the system which isnt a big issue as we just put them back in. But now we have pda,s comming up with " unepected error " and shutting down. also ringback/txtback just works when it feels like it and caller id not working on one of the linesand if we are taking a call and a driver trys a ringback the dialing tones and ringing bleeds over the phone call. we own the system yet still pay nearly £400 a month for support so ok lets phone support to get it sorted. Its your router it needs changing ok £300 later and hello support its still doing it. ok then its the batterys on the pda,s so £145 later and hello support its still doing it and has basicly been left like that for 6 weeks now. despite telling them its since the update we are told its imposible for it to be that.

Hope im wrong but i think all mercury customers will basicly be left to there own devices and are being pushed towards i cabbi thru lack of support. So we are on the look out for a new dispatch system but only being a small firm we really need to be able to use the equipment that we have and rent/buy software if thats possible. Did notice that when u phone mercury up the customer care option has been removed so there is no one to complain to now

Give Bill a ring at Datamaster I'm sure he'll hook you up with a system, all singing and dancing for much much less than what you were paying Exel.

I think the problem was they lost their original programming team when the business was sold since then they have struggled
I have been offered the chance to switch to Icabbi but as I am an older version of mercury 1 which works fine for our needs I am sticking to that

The programmer lived in New Zealand, he only wrote programmes when he felt like it and needed some money.

Every update they did screwed the system up even more, there's an old saying, "if it's not broken don't try and fix it". They couldn't leave it alone for one week, every update crashed the PDA's, the machines in the office and the phone systems.

The original programming team were based at the old office at the back of the owners house the problem was when they decided to start again from scratch and then sold the business on losing most of that team half way through

Mike Scott lived in New Zealand. They've not sold out previous to this one, someone came on aboard a few years ago and that's when it went belly up.
