You know how Uber clients book Uber and the system sends the job to the next/nearest car?

Is there a version any firm can have? an app that sends the jobs to the next car amongst those logged on?

So someone uses a phone to order a taxi and a car gets sent to them ?

Keep going down this line and you'll re-invent a taxi company

Sunday night I was on the top deck of a tour bus in New York.
Reckon it's knocked years off my life just watching the crazy yellow cab drivers over there

Bill :)

texts/emails/apps are easy, but not for the bulk of the day time trade...

so can a fleet do away with a base/base op?

Well you could I suppose but you might end up loosing all your customers that prefer to speak with a real person rather than use automation. At the moment the best I've seen with the full complement of IVR+apps+text+web comes out at 65% (45% being more typical) but the vast majority of this is IVR catching people just ringing the office rather than using apps.

May be in twenty years time it'll be very different so don't sack the office staff just yet!

Bill :)

But maybe only employ people with 15 years working life left, save on redundancy payments.

Our telephone number can be diverted to ring all the drivers at one time or ring them in order. We usually set it to ring all the drivers at the same time and they are supposed to only answer the call if they are available to do a job. It works reasonably well unless you have a driver who sets his phone to auto answer. It is also a bit of a problem if someone rings to change or cancel a booking when the wrong driver answers the call.

Uber has an app, so do we (AutoCab); Uber takes card payments, so do we; Uber offers an estimate, so do we.

Additionally, we take cash, we have telephones so that you can talk to someone to book; we have telephones so you can talk to someone to complain; we have E mail; we have snail mail.

You can also find us on a rank; no booking required.

You can flag us down in the street; no booking required.

We're friendly!!

£80 pw. 84 cars. Owned by 40 drivers. Checks & balances with independent oversight. Works very well. Hence the biguest in the borough.
