info please.

looking to put radios in my car/s for summer, once business builds up...

question is....

what are the best, cheapest ones to start with.

bare in mind i,m only in a small town ( 12000) .

i even thought of 80ch cb radios for cars and one for house...

it would get me up and going ? cheaply ! anywhere out of range i would use mobile to contact driver.

hell...i would need to do the same if i had proper 21 ways anyway once they get out of range.

can i have your thoughts on this please

cheers guys....

ps...only gonna be 2 cars running....unless business really picks up over the next 12 mths

Thought you were looking to be up market.

A twig on the back says 'cab' just as much as a sign on the roof.

Would mobile phones with carkits not be a better option considering the numbers you are talking here?

Couple of contracts with good allowance of free mins would be ideal.

yeh well...doing that just now m8...call divert onto my mobile ..

trouble is.....ITS DAM EXPENSIVE....and this is me not that busy.
8p i pay per call when ever someone phones my taxi number and its call diverted onto my mobile . supposing its 50sec or 1 min...i still pay 8p per min.

you do the sums and see what i mean.....

100 customers phone me on sat nite alone for talking sake...

then take fri nites / sun nites.......and then you have the day stuff.....
Like i said....i,m just starting to get busier now.....

 and thats with the number on BT discount rate

Hang on.

You are saying that mobiles are costing you too much because of diverting your customers calls?

Well radio won't save on that cos if you are a one man band you still need to answer calls in the car. Alternative would be to pay someone to answer the phone, but that will cost more than call divert.

I just feel you are trying to solve the wrong problem here.

You need to address the best way to respond to your customer as one issue

and

The best way to communicate with the other car as another issue.

Hi
Ok if you want the best of all worlds then the best thing to do is install a repeater that you can have at your house and that you can run as a base station and talk to the cars but you can also press a button which will allow the base to be put into "Talkthrough Mode".

Basically this means that if your in your car and get a phone call for and you want too pass it to another car then all you have to do is call over the radio and you message will be repeated thru the main system at your house to the other car.

Its a good way to start and I have put a few companies on this sort of system. Its not that exspensive to start up and you can easily add cars without doing anything to the actual base system.

Once you want to keep people in the office all the time then you can switch over to the standard way that people dispatch jobs.

There are a few types of base stations on the market that will do this and it depends if you buy new or 2nd hand.

PM me if you want to discuse it further. Oh once you have bought the kit then the annual cost for running the system is well under £100 and no call charges. Also for adding each additional car it will only cost you the price of a 2nd hand radio.

regards
