I was wondering if any one had any experience of using the above units ( Worldpay, CabCard, Verifone, paytaxi, cabvision etc )

I’m not interested in any of the app based units (izettle etc)

I know your not interested in iZettle but I find it’s very good, so why are you not interested?

I probably phrased it wrong, I’ve been speaking to a few of the other drivers and I’m probably going to choose either iZettle or SumUp. I think I know enough about these I just wanted opinions on the stand alone units before I made a decision. Does anyone favour SumUp over iZettle ? (iZettle seems to be winning at the moment)

I use iZettle and have been very happy with it for many years.

Apart from cost comparisons, my issue with the stand alone units is the sheer size of them. Like most, I have limited space in my car so the iZettle reader is perfect in the centre console.

IZettle is also 1.75% sumup is the cheapest 1.69%
IZettle takes 2 to 3 working days to reach your bank square is 1 to 2 working days
Ok not much to choose between them, I chose iZettle because it has a proper card reader, the customer
puts there PIN number into the reader, with square you use your phone.

Also iZettle takes the most different types of card payments and also lets the customers tip you.
Sumup doesn’t.

I've still got izettle but have moved on to sumup cos it's cheaper 1.75% as opposed to 2.7%,plus it seems to turn itself off after transactions thereby saving battery, very good.

That's what the iZettle does, and I've always paid 1.75%.

Did you have an old one?

Get one that charges 1.75%.

Don't give them any more of your money than necessary.

Well, I’ve had iZettle for three months now and I should have done it years ago. We have quite a few poober working Chester now and this was one of the main reasons I decided to start to take card payments. It’s strange, the drivers who make the most noise about ‘them’ working in Chester are the ones who refuse to take card payments!!!

I’ve said it before but the only way to beat the app based companies is to offer a better service. We won’t beat them on price so the ‘peasants’ of this world will always go for the cheaper option. If you build up a decent client base and keep your fares reasonable they shouldn’t go looking elsewhere.

In many areas you are spot on.

In my area we have loads of foreign visitors and loads of kids (my words for students), and Uber do well out of them. Even during surge times.

The local firms dispatch systems are on a par with Uber, and in many ways better, however the kids love the Uber app.

My Izettle has thrown a couple of hissy fits but not as bad as the ones that drivers with square seem to get
