Then you should train up and set up an installer service and you could make a bob or two.

Doubt if Halfords does that sort of stuff anyway :?:

They just do off the shelf dashcams, which any competent auto-electrian would manage to install, indeed just DIY mechanic skills required, I suspect.

Have I missed something or do folks think CCTV is difficult to install?

Anyone with a basic set of electrical skills can fit them. The units are the same to fit no matter how advanced they are.

No different in my view than fitting a meter.

We had encrypted CCTV installed in our cars on a 3 year contract, they were installed at our premises. The problems we had were that the quality at night was crap and could not be used at all. Daytime was good and it did help us with a couple of issues. We have now had them removed and so far we haven't replaced them.

Spoke to a local alarm/CCTV installer

its the data thats encrypted, not the system, and a password protected system might be all you need, i did my electrical apprenticeship in the dark...NCB coal face

ive got all the tools but cant find the systems for sale

Therefore the decision to introduce a CCTV policy must be underpinned by a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA). A DPIA is a mandatory requirement before any CCTV policy is implemented. A DPIA helps you identify and minimise the data protection risks of a CCTV policy and to answer fundamental but tricky questions, including:

what is our justification for requiring the use of CCTV?
when should the CCTV be operating?
should the driver be able to manually control the system?
for what purposes will we use the CCTV footage?
how do we ensure that the footage is kept secure and only used for authorised purposes?
should we allow audio-recording and, if so, in what circumstances?
how long should the footage be retained?
what are the risks to passengers' and drivers' data protection rights and interests?

Two or three places down here sell them.

One of the suppliers get his stuff from a wholesaler based in London that I'm quite sure would sell their system to Mr Wana.

But I can't remember their name.
