rather than using convential APPL (analogue point to point links) for remote site base station, has anyone tried using VOIP protocols instead? 
We`ve just taken on a marandy customer and got the data running over a broadband pipe very well. 
The voice for the voice channel is planned to go via BB thru a VOIP protocol converter. any comments. |

Think this is about connecting the office to a remote base station using the Internet instead of the traditional expensive landline setup. We’ve just started a job in Blackburn where the office is right down in the town center, surrounded by large buildings. Their current voice setup gives limited coverage so the data coverage won’t be any better. The boss though lives on a high spot so there is a possibility that the radio equipment could be located at his place and connected by a broadband link. Interesting.... Bill |

And some questions. I can imagine a box with a serial port that connects via the Internet to a similar box at the other end wouldn't be using much in terms of bandwidth so is there a multi-channel version that would allow both voice and data? Are the units self contained or do they need a pc at each end?? What's the cost of each unit? Bill |
