Post subject:  At last!

My boss has finally decieded to look for a new data system.
He has asked me to look around at different systems.
As a few of you are aware, we use marandy at the moment, which is very easy to use, and it does exactly what it say's on the tin. It's biggest problem is the back up and data head's, they are not driver proof.

I have looked at autocab and datamaster and was impressed by both of them.
We have a fleet of about 40-50 cars and we need a system that is easy to use, auto plot with gps, account software, and jobs sent via radio not internet.

Your thought's please.

datamaster, every time.

i think autocab is too over engineered.

over engineered? interesting terminology.

Cordic for me, because it uses this century's communication methods not those of the last century.

Would you buy a betamax video player today or a DVD.

My only worry with the Cordic system is that every year at 0000 on 1st January all the mobile networks go crazy, Unable to dial, recorded message network is busy please try later and texts taking 3 hours to go through. Hows this going to affect Cordic users.

Not at all. Because data is on a separate section of the network.

We certainly had no problems at all on New Years Eve.

Will keep you all posted.

After my earlier smugness I can report that we are havingGPRS problems today.

But the fallback toGSM keeps us going, just more slowly than we would like.

One important consideration here is to check out any company who you intend to engage as a supplier prior to placing any orders.

Cordic is a repretuable outfit that has a good reputation with it's customers, this is fact.

Others may imply they offer the solution Operators want but you can spend a long time reaserching only to find out this is a false claim.

Look all of them up on companies house first, eh Tom?

It looks like we are going to go for the mercury system with pda's.
I have been to two companies who are using it and was very impressed.
Both companies are using it on full auto and have had no problems.
