I went for a 3 day test in the new Kia ceed SW last week, and was extremely impressed, it had the 1.6 110bhp diesel engine went like the proverbial of a shovel, had loads of room for passengers and luggage.
over the 3 days and 630 miles it never went below 53 miles per gallon, and still had fuel in it when i took it back but I only had to put 47 liters in it
It was extremely quiet and had a central locking system that locks all the doors as soon as you get to 5 mph just like a hac
The luggage area has under floor storage as well for all your stuff, and you can also store the luggage guard net and cover under the floor as well.
The Scottish borders has many narrow bendy roads and hills galore and it held the road like a limpet.
You get a 7 year 100000 unlimited mileage warranty with it, that can be extended for £120 a year.
So if your about to change your car have a look at them I'm sure you will be as impressed as I was

Hi Skippy.

Are these really big enough to fit three in the back? I've been looking at them on Parkers.co.uk and I know you can't judge by a picture but they don't look that big in the back. I quite like them though, might test drive one when I get the chance.

The other thing is, you say it's 100,000 unlimited mileage warranty? Doesn't the 100,000 miles mean it IS limited?

Still, limited or not, for them to offer a 7 year warranty, they must be confident that they won't break down. They seem like a decent buy.

Were you driving it the same as you would your taxi? I mean by that did you do a lot of stop start work or just cruising? What load did you have in the car?

The wife, ouch yes dear  and three kids on a trip to Cc's manor.
then back again with a full luggage area.
Picked up some mates for the darts night they are all about 15 stone and over they make me look like iv been on a slim fast diet 3 of them in the back no problems
Gave it a good taxi driver hammer at night on the open roads
its actually a 113 bhp not a 110, and there are 2 1.6 diesels the one to go for is the hp one

I've just been looking on autotrader, and for the price of a Kia Ceed, you can actually get a fully loaded Kia Magentis with cruise control, climate control and heated leather seats etc.

These Kia's are actually really good value. Well worth considering.

The magentis is not very practical as the boot opening is tight hard to get more than 2 large cases in or a large buggy tryed the diesel one when it first came out 2 years ago and you can get them real cheap because KIA thought the taxi trade would buy them, if they had made a hatchback we may have done

Didn't realise that, Skippy. The Ceed still looks a good one though.

Go to the KIA site and put your post code in to find the nearest dealer.
What car says aim to pay £1000 less for the SW HP than the advertised price

According to their site, I have a dealer just under 8 miles away. I should be getting a car within the next couple of weeks so I'll definitely be giving them a call.

Thanks for the info, Skippy. I never really thought of getting a Kia before until I saw you post. 8)

I've certainly changed my opinion of them.

The one nearest to me is Wigan, Lancashire. I'll certainly be pointing the Longstone prices out to them, though.

Thanks again for all the help and advice.

I think Kia have stoped the 3 day test drive, but your dealer may let you have one for 24 hours or even half a day
You can only ask

I didn't realise dealers still did test drives for longer than a day. I remember the Vauxhall dealer near us had problems with their cars getting abused for 3 days and being returned in not-so-good condition.

I will try though
