Post subject:  Meter fitting on octavia MK2

I have just had my halda M12 meter fitted to my new octavia MK2 and the fitter had to remove the radio, and half the dash and speedo just to get at the pulse wire (red and yellow for future ref) is there an easier way of doing it, the MK1 was strait forward as the pulse was behind the radio

The easier way is to buy purpose built, say for instance a hybrid metrocab that you were so in awe of.

Skoda: Octavia (A5 from 2003)

Wire Location/Comment
No wire on later models. Connector on instrument cluster. Pin 28.


Remove dash with special tool. Remove plug on instrument cluster. Add wire with special crimp terminal to Pin 28 if required.

Ty for a strait answer, CC thats exactly what the fitter did, bloody dam good car though getting 55 plus per gallon or 760 miles from 50 LTRS

They are indeed good cars, and good on fuel, wish I got one of those instead of the Superb which are perfect in many ways, but a little heavy for the engine (IMO).

Might get a new superb in the Autumn tho.

What one did you get??? the 100 or 130BHP,
I had the 130 and on long runs managed 880 miles from a tank, or between 520 and 570 local.
if you have the 100BHP contact super chip and they will put a smile on your face and it will not show up on any VAG computer, just think 135 BHP and another 5 to 10 miles per gallon :wink:
When you get the timing belt changed make sure the tension-er is done also, and for a further £25 get the water pump done at the same time, as they do go once under new tension

Yes, I should be thankful I wasnt a couple of years into an agreement for a WAV that has to compete with a vehicle thats cheaper to buy and run.
