Give the taxi centre in Glasgow a ring they do insurance or Paton's
I have the same car £750 oops its now £850 as it went up

What area are you in as that will have a factor, but over a grand for a group 6 car there is something wrong

How much do you get off with your NCD skippy?
He hasn't got one.

And he's a lot younger than you

7 years private car NCB will not be given as 7 years NCB on a hire & reward policy. At best he'd get 2 or 3 years.
Some insurers won't accept it at all.

Depending where you live, Service Policies could be the best best. Up to and including a START date of 31/1/2012, they will allow an introductory discount in exchange for assigning your private car NCB to a new policy. On the limited info you provided, if you were local to us i.e. a town on the South Coast your premium would be about £2000. 1/2/2012 on at its £3000+ as the introductory deal is being withdrawn by service after that date.

Put your details on www.quotiva.co.uk and I am sure one of the Service brokers will be amongst the 5 that will provide quotes for you.
