Can anyone recommend a good accountant in the SW London area?

they are even starting a course on this for cabbies down here.
being paid for by some learning thing from the governemnt. :shock:

Hi Brib,

With nowadays technology, there no longer a need to have your accountant close by. My firm is situated in the South East and specialises in dealing with Taxi Driver's Accounts and Taxation.

But why pay premium rates if you can get a premium service at local rates?

There is no such thing as a "good accountant",[LOL Sorry but I live to far away from you but I suggest that you use a Chartered Accountant, you pay a little more but maybe just maybe he is believed more by the taxman than the general run of the mill bog standard ordinary accountant without the required qualifications to his name

Some years ago I thought the same. Why pay for somthing that I could do myself. After a couple of years, I got a letter from IR that they wanted to see me. Outcome: I got done for a quite a few K. Morale: Don't try to be clever and do it yourself. Pay an accountant. It is so easy to make a silly mistake that the IR will spot.

Do it yorself on self assesment, then b4 31 sepember take it down to the tax office and ask them to check it while u wait, no nasty shocks for the future here, on one occaision they even pointed out something I had forgotten to include which saved me loads!!!! Regards Eric

been through a couple of accountants not happy with any of them but self assesment also has its pitfalls especially if you have a sort of cover up situation which ive never had but heard it on the ranks also the dreaded call in interview is meant to be a nightmare as many dundee cabbies are now finding been a lot of plates handed back recently wonder why?

An experienced and suitably qualified accountant is likely to be a source of good tax advice for a driver. His anual fee is often worth this tax advice alone. Any self employed person really needs tax advice - it's a specialist subject and is constantly changing. If your tax adviser also does your accounts for you then thats a bonus. So if you do your own accounts you should still seek some sort of professional tax advice as well. That's my advice. (Edited by Onzon Dec. 06)
