hello all.

been looking at insurance for the last few weeks, and it seems most guys on here go through a taxi/PH insurance company rather then a generic insurance company. Ive been on several search insurance comparison sites and found that you can insure a taxi on them, generally for much cheaper. What am i missing?

Ive even emailed one of the better priced ones on the comparison sites and asked if they insure taxi drivers, and the car to be a taxi or P/H , they said yes. Am i missing something or are the policys totally different?

Which ones because generally they dont!
Be careful because they may indeed insure a vehicle that is a taxi, but not for taxi use. Make sure the insurance is FOR HIRE AND REWARD, if it doesn't then you are not insured to carry fare paying passengers.

I'm hoping you've found some comparison sites that do compare taxi policies 'cos it would save us all a lot of time and effort each year

Thats because there are no insurance companies who a) cover taxi's AND b) deal direct with customers

There seem to be only 4 or 5 Companies supplying policies, the underwriters must have the jitters, LV and Enterprise spring to mind
