For anyone that's setup as above, be warned.

The Taxi centre have been telling me for the last 2 weeks despite enterprise going into administration as an existing policy holder i'm fully covered and not to worry about a thing.

fast forward to today and a chip in my windscreen, phone call to the claim line to be told err we're not covering glass claims anymore.

Now for anyone that owns a newer vehicle with any form of ADAS system( lane assist adaptive cruise etc etc) the cost of a windscreen is eyewatering. £881 for a new windscreen for a Mondeo.
bit more than the £70 excess I was expecting.

long story short as above whatever your broker is telling you don't believe a word. I've been left high and dry on this one i'm paying my policy monthly and by all accounts i'm still liable for those payments until December although I do have to wonder if my policy is in fact worthless in its entirety.

How big is the chip? a repair costs us £25.00 with a local company.

When this story first broke about them going into administration,14,000 policy holders in Ireland were advised to seek insurance cover elsewhere.

The M.I.B. here gave advice along the lines any policy holder would only be covered for third party risk, which everyone knows is not worth having.

It would appear the chickens are now coming home to roost, brokers do not always tell the truth as appears in this case.

The M I B have written to me to say that provided my turnover is under £1,000,000 our 3rd party claims will be paid out at 100% and own damage claims at 90%.

Will they repair it with all the gubbins in the windscreen?

Widscreens are laminated and a stone chip usually only affects the outer layer and does not usually interfere with any "gubbins" unless you are very unfortunate. We have never had any problems so far. The only gubbins that I am aware of in our windscreens are some of them are heated and some have rain sensors. Not sure what the Prius has though.

According to the FSCS the news comes as Enterprise's provisional liquidator, Freddie White of Grant Thornton, wrote to insurance brokers warning that he expects to cancel all policies on 26 October.

That gives brokers and Enterprise customers less than a month to find alternative cover.

If all policy holders have had a letter there should be none that don't know. :?
