Hi there,

I'm Thom. First time poster long time stalker of these forums :D

I'm looking into setting up a new taxi company; one of my friends (an old local taxi driver.. before moving to London for Uber (HA)) said that the best way to make money is "tender" for government/council contracts.

Can anyone explain this? He's since gone on holiday and refuses to answer emails :?

You need to contact your local councils and ask them to send you the tender info, or add you to their list of suppliers.

Or check their websites for the tender portals.

But it might be an idea to get drivers and cars first.

Our local council insist that you provide your UTR before you can tender for council contracts. So make sure you are registered as proper self employed first.

Most councils operate under a "framework"

You must apply and they only open interest every 3 or more years

All your insurances/badges/etc will be checked, you will tender for example (trial) or fake jobs

then you can bid the lowest price for work

sound ok?
